Our Client, a leading company in Malta, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Officer to join its finance team. The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance, budgeting, cash-flow monitoring and audit activities.
This role is suited to an accounting professional who is keen to develop their technical knowledge, gain broader exposure to financial operations and progress towards a complete professional accounting qualification.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, invoices, receipts and supporting documentation.
Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, follow up on outstanding payments and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, management accounts, budgets and financial forecasts.
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow, expenditure and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Assist with the preparation of VAT and corporate income tax returns and support compliance with applicable financial regulations.
Provide documentation and information required for external audits, while supporting client onboarding, accounting system updates and other finance-related activities.
Around 2–3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, preferably in a professional or commercial environment.
Good understanding of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping and financial reconciliation procedures.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyse financial information accurately and identify discrepancies.
Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with clients, colleagues, auditors and other stakeholders.
Strong willingness to learn, adapt to new accounting systems and processes, and develop professionally within the finance function.
Currently reading for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
Alternatively, candidates who are approximately halfway through the ACCA qualification are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge or practical experience with Xero will be considered an asset.
Working knowledge of VAT, corporate tax and applicable financial regulations is advantageous.
